New Dashboard, Booking Sheet, Turbine Support & v3.11 “Superfortress”
Sam Webster
Software Developer
The dashboard has been revamped, flight operations can now be more simply managed through the booking sheet and turbine & jet aircraft support has been drastically improved. Let's dive in!
New Dashboard
Customised Widgets |
---|
The dashboard has received a fresh coat of paint, you can now pick and choose what widgets you want to see, and the whole thing has been designed to work better on phones and tablets.
Integrated Agenda |
---|
With the agenda more deeply integrated, you can now access dispatching, lesson records, and more straight from the dashboard. You can also hide this new agenda, and use the traditional widget if you prefer.
Booking Sheet
The booking sheet is something new to Smart. It provides one central point to manage the operational aspects of a given booking, and can be accessed from both the dashboard and the updated Flights manager.
If enabled in the organisations settings, you can now dispatch multiple events for the same resources at once. While in a perfect world Smart should be in sync with the operations, sometimes, like on charter ops, or fly-aways, the dispatching needs to all be done up front, which you can now do.
The booking sheet also incorporates the records for all flights within the booking on one screen, reminiscent of a flight deck log. This type of view is often used by many operators, particularly those doing charter, jet or turbine operations.
Turbine Support
For those of you who operate jets and turbines, we have expanded support for capturing more information, everything from APU cycles, to trend monitoring for Part 42 / CAMO requirements. To be more specific, the list of data points that can now be captured include:
- APU Cycles & Hours
- Trend Monitoring Data
- Refuel Data
- Logging times in UTC
These new data points are optional, and not mandatory. You can opt in or out at anytime. If you want a more comprehensive overview, please reach out to our team on how we can configure these new settings for your organisation.
Flights Manager
The flights manager has been repurposed to better help operations teams focus on a "per day" view of their organisation. This distinction better enables planning teams to use the scheduler, and operations teams to use the flights manager. It uses a very simple kanban layout to see what flights are waiting to go out, what's been dispatched, and what is back, providing a simple at-a-glance view of the days operations. Press on any flight to open the booking sheet and access dispatching, records, and more.
We realise that, distinct, and purpose built areas of Smart focused on the needs of specific roles within an organisation, will provide more useful tools, than trying to wedge everything into one place - and while the scheduler is powerful, and can do a lot, at it's core, it is more of a planning type tool, than an operational one, and speaking with you we realised there needed to be a more micro view that focuses on the day-to-day, the coal face, and we think the new flights manager is on the path to achieving that.
The Rest
By now you have probably read about this in our "Latest News" which pops up automatically with each release, and be sure to check the release notes for all the details as there is just too much to mention here. Some other key items to note are:
- Ability to record day vs night landings & takeoffs
- Ability to record takeoffs vs landings
- Improved organisation & profile creation
- Ability to bulk edit documents
Wrap Up
These new features are aimed at frontline personnel, the pilots, the instructors, and the people dealing with day-to-day operations, with simple and easy to use tools. The app development is accelerating and we are really excited to release it soon. Until next time!
